Here are a few good tips for booking a Long Island Wedding Band:

Generally, a band should be hired as far as 6 to 12 months in advance. If you are getting married in peak wedding season, you may want to book as far as 18 months in advance.

On Long Island you can expect to pay between $1,800 to as much as $7,000 for the top bands in the area. Prices and quality vary from band to band, so you are going to need to do a little comparison shopping to get the best quality and value.

Selecting a Band

These are important things to consider in selecting entertainment for your wedding:

Don't confuse price with quality when selecting a band. There are many independent, experienced and high quality bands in the lower price range. These are independent bands which do not have the high cost of management/agency fees, studio/office space rent, showcase expenses and costly video presentations. The cost of all these things are included in the price you pay. If you can find a reasonably priced band, where all you pay for is quality entertainment,  it can save you money which can be spent to improve the quality of other aspects of the wedding.

Before you hire a band, you must listen to them first. Ask for a high quality audio demo from the band. Be sure to ask if the band you see or hear on the demo is the band that will actually perform at your wedding.

Ask if the bandleader will act as your Master of Ceremonies. If so, he will need a list of your attendants and the events with specific songs to be played during them. Make sure you will be able to speak directly to the bandleader when planning the entertainment for the reception.
